As the real estate industry got tougher in late 2008, Orleans Homes found itself competing with thousands of unsold houses in virtually vacant communities. As a point of differentiation, the headline “Neighborhoods with Neighbors” capitalized on the fact that Orleans homes were situated in vibrant neighborhoods full of happy homeowner activities. A light-spirited direct mail card free of the usual and expected real estate jargon worked to focus attention for the builder.
